That is totally me after I spend thousands of dollars on a handbag.

Because you can't afford a pillow? LOL. Actually the COACH line is VERY affordable as luxury handbags go. And quite frankly, I have been as pleased, if not more so, with their quality than any high-end bag I have owned. I mean, I love my Hogans, but they are just a different style (and price bracket) than the COACH...AND we have a COACH store here! Want to go? I need a new key ring!

I remember when coach was "high end"...remember girls, they are just pieces of leather with stitching! Some of these expensive bags are more hype than anything else, mostly because they are hanging from the arm of a celebrity. What most people don't know is that with a couple of freebies to the Jessicas and Lindsays of the world, these companies make suckers of all of us! Its quite brilliant.

You are absolutely right. There IS a difference, though, between luxury bags (COACH included) and the kind of bags you find at Dillards. COACH spoiled me with their quality and fabulous leather. Hogan hooked me with their Weekend bag on the cover of Town & Country Travel last winter (although it took five months for me to figure out what KIND of bag it was!), and on the flight home from NYC I was reading Harper's Bazaar and saw the Scout bag featured as a "tsunami relief" auction...long before it was on Jessica's arm I was in love with the Scout, as well.

I should mention that all of my COACH bags (and there are a lot) -- with the exception of a white suede bag that is dingy but still beautiful (and which COACH offered to pay to have cleaned) -- are still absolutely gorgeous and in perfect shape.

But it is amazing what we will do for a handbag that has been carried by a celeb, and quite sickening to think that they get them for free when THEY are the ones who can actually afford the pricetag!

I agree, there is a reason that luxury bags are at a higher price point. They are well made and stand the test of time, but $2000 for a Chloe bag, come on!! Granted, sometimes the leathers are exotic - like Tod's which uses deer skin for its Micky's (poor Bambi), but I think that some of the bags out there are just too much for a little bit of arm candy.

My Micky bag is not as pliable as my Hogans...it seems thicker, more structured. As for price, they could sell these for closer to the $300-$500 mark than the Chloe pricetag of $1500-$2000. It's supply vs. demand, and everyone wants a Chloe, so they drive the price up. I think the Chloe bag would be hard to get in and out of for practical purposes. And the Vanity was much more attractive than the regular Paddington.
